Why Dealers Do Not Like 6:5 Blackjack Games

Dealers are not very happy about 6:5 blackjack games as they have to spend a great deal of time explaining the differences between standard blackjack and 6:5 blackjack to players. Simultaneously, they have to be careful about not revealing too much about the game’s higher house edge as casinos take dealers to task if players move away from the game.

Experts usually advise blackjack beginners to stay away from 6:5 blackjack games. In the first place, players are paid 6:5 instead of the usual 3:2 if they get blackjack. This simple change in payout structure raises the house edge of the game from 0.15 percent to 1.45 percent.

Dealers are not happy about 6:5 blackjack games because they are not permitted to tell players that the game raises the house edge. Besides, the game is not friendly to dealers either.

For instance, if a player places a tip bet worth $1 for the dealer, the dealer will make $1.50 if the player gets blackjack. However, in a 6:5 blackjack game, the dealer will get only $1.20. To make matters worse, dealers will get only even money because players usually deduct the small change of $0.20.

Dealers’ tip boxes are usually full of 50-cent pieces, but no dimes.
